Vehicle Evading Police Smashes into Florida Bar, Claiming Four Dead and Eleven Injured

A high-speed car while evading law enforcement crashed into a busy bar in the early hours on Saturday, killing 4 people and injuring eleven in a vintage neighborhood of Florida, renowned for its nightlife and visitors.

Aerial patrol team with the local police department spotted the car driving dangerously on a highway at approximately just after midnight after authorities said the light-colored car had been observed illegally racing in a different neighborhood, according to a law enforcement announcement.

The Florida road police intercepted the car and attempted to execute a maneuver that involves striking a rear fender of a fleeing car to cause it to spin out, called a pit, but it was ineffective.

State police personnel “ended pursuit” as the car sped toward the vintage downtown area near downtown, Tampa authorities said. Eventually, the driver failed to maintain control of the car and struck over a dozen individuals near the establishment, police confirmed.

3 victims died at the scene and a fourth victim died at a hospital. By Saturday morning, a fifth casualty was hospitalized in critical condition, and eight other patients were being treated at area medical centers but were listed as not critical, authorities said. 2 additional victims sustained slight injuries and declined treatment at the scene.
