Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Shooting as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter carried on following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”
