The Red Devils Set to Sign German Striker Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Major Acquisition for United

Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her deal, has been a prolific goal-getter for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side.

Departure from Munich was expected since she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. Per multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer have now been completed.

Consistent Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Forward Line

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major uplift to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been highly consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing the German international coincides with a period when United appear to be building positive momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the winter break has seen additional business:

1. The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.

Regarding the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
