Passionate followers of the pop star are demanding that a person who jumped a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.

A circulating video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the event by guards.

Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.

History of Disruptions

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account includes videos of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.

"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.

Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being

Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.

"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another comment on Instagram.

Some supporters also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.

Response and Event Details

In clips circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.

Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.

The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.

They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, winning two for best costume and set decoration.
