Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
